Finding the right contractor can help throughout the entire process from finding the right materials to guiding you away from the wrong ones. Get a referral
There’s nothing better than a personal reference or a referral. Whether it’s from a friend, neighbor, networking group or a family member it’s always best to have someone with personal experience with a contractor give you a lead. If you don’t know anyone that has recently had roof maintenance or a installation done, check with your local lumber yards and hardware stores – chances are, they can refer a good lead.
Research, Research, Research
After compiling a list of qualified roofing contractors – yes you should have a list of multiple contractors – do your research! Check out their reviews on yelp, google and Angies list to see what other people have been saying about them. It’s also a good idea to know how long they’ve been in business, what they’re licensed for and what groups they’re a member of.
Set up a Face to Face meeting
After you’ve gotten referrals and done your research it’s always a good idea to meet your future contractor face to face. Doing so will give you an opportunity to fill in the blanks to all the questions and concerns you might have. There’s only so much a website or review site can give you, having a feel for a person and their business depends on the face-to-face interaction. Once you get a feel for their knowledge and professionalism you should be able to move forward with who the best contractor is for you.
